Case size — not sure? the wrist-fit check is just below
Strap — quick-release, swap any time
Diameter tells you how big the dial looks; lug to lug tells you whether the watch stays on top of your wrist. Pick your wrist size and each case gets a verdict, drawn to the same scale.
1Measure
Wrap a strip of paper round your wrist just below the bone, mark where it overlaps and lay it against a ruler.
2Pick your wrist circumference
Between two sizes? Pick the smaller one — the strap has five holes either side of centre.
3Read the verdict
The top of a wrist is roughly three tenths of its circumference across. A case whose lug to lug fits inside that width sits flat.
15 cm round · about 45 mm across the top of the wrist
Line = your wrist widthBar = lug to lug, same scale
We would choose the 37 mm on the short strap, 110 / 70 mm. The 39 and 41 would reach past the edge of your wrist.
16 cm round · about 48 mm across the top of the wrist
Line = your wrist widthBar = lug to lug, same scale
We would choose the 39 mm on the short strap, 110 / 70 mm.
17 cm round · about 51 mm across the top of the wrist
Line = your wrist widthBar = lug to lug, same scale
We would choose the 41 mm on the regular strap, 120 / 75 mm.
18 cm round · about 54 mm across the top of the wrist
Line = your wrist widthBar = lug to lug, same scale
We would choose the 41 mm on the regular strap, 120 / 75 mm.
19 cm round · about 57 mm across the top of the wrist
Line = your wrist widthBar = lug to lug, same scale
We would choose the 41 mm on the long strap, 130 / 80 mm. Every size sits inside your wrist; the 41 balances it best.
20 cm round · about 60 mm across the top of the wrist
Line = your wrist widthBar = lug to lug, same scale
We would choose the 41 mm on the long strap, 130 / 80 mm. Every size sits inside your wrist; the 41 balances it best.
Every figure is taken off a finished watch on the bench, with callipers, not from a drawing.
Answers to what Combe buyers ask the bench before they order.
Take the smaller case. A watch that sits inside the wrist looks deliberate; one whose lugs hang over always looks borrowed. The strap has five holes either side of centre for fine sizing.
Yes. Every strap is quick-release: slide the small lever on the spring bar and it drops out. Any 18 mm strap fits the 37; any 20 mm strap fits the 39 and 41.
A dozen turns of the crown each morning. Fully wound it runs 58 hours, so it survives a weekend on the dresser.
All three are on the bench at Rue des Envers 31, Le Locle, Tuesday to Saturday 09:30–18:00. No appointment needed.
Inside the two-year warranty we re-regulate it free, usually in a week. Your rate card shows the figure it left the bench with.
